Ignite :: Lyrics to Know Your History

You want to take a stand
You haven’t made a plan
Your new crusades bring misery
Better know your history

You spot your war disease
Bring this nation to its knees
The largest debt we’ve ever seen
Better know your history

Under the burning sun
Another dead hero
This road we’re walking on
To reap what we have sown
(Oh) Lockdown, lockdown, here we go again

Foreign aid with strings attached
Cut down on the working class
The World Bank creeps
In sheep’s clothing
Better know your history

The masses, so deaf and blind
We’re back to the Roman times
The truth is now the enemy
Better know your history

My family lived through both regimes
The rising tide of lies and mass deceit
They’ll tell you what to think
And what to say Know your history

You send the poor to fight
Then praise the religious right
A sacrilegious blasphemy
Better know your history

An empire of greedy thieves
Bring the nation to its knees
The new world corporatocracy
Better know your history

History
For the past to repeat
Is your destiny
History
I know we’re going to pay
To history

Ignite :: Lyrics to Veteran

Yeah, you’re abandoned,
so sorry, you’re just a waste of their time,
yeah, you’ve been lied to once again,
yeah, well, they’ve paid you no,
where are we, where are we now?
Where are we, where are we now?
Old woman, have you seen your better days,
are you feelin’ so alone,
well, the times they all have changed,
forgotten,
hungry and cold,
veteran, are you satisfied with life,
are you sleepin’ on concrete,
are you forgotten and alone,
poor, homeless in this country,
where are we, where are we now?
Where are we, where are we now?
Hey senior, have you been taken past your prime,
have you been taken advantage of,
are you forgotten,
tired and poor by the ones you’ve voted for,
yeah, you’re abandoned,
so sorry, you’re just a waste of their time,
yeah, you’ve been lied to once again,
yeah, well, they’ve paid you no mind,
yeah, you’re abandoned,
so sorry, you’re just a waste of their time,
yeah, you’ve been lied to once again,
yeah, well, they’ve paid you no mind

The slavery of poverty,
no one should be hungry in this country,
enough to feed,
to medicate,
to clothe the backs and housin’ for families,
the cuts in care and Medicaid leads me believe our government just doesn’t care,
we send our aid,
our misspent funds,
Americans hungry livin’ in the ghetto

The cuts in care and Medicaid leads me believe our government just doesn’t care,
we send our aid,
our misspent funds,
Americans hungry livin’ in the ghetto

Where are we, where are we now? (2x)

Yeah, you’re abandoned,
so sorry, you’re just a waste of their time,
yeah, you’ve been lied to once again,
yeah, well, they’ve paid you no mind,
yeah, you’re abandoned,
so sorry, you’re just a waste of their time,
yeah, you’ve been lied to once again,
yeah, well, they’ve paid you no mind
(Yeah yeah yeah) (3x)
(Yeah yeah)

New York

Sorry to ruin the fantasy but Sex in the City is 99.9% fiction. Friends is 100% fiction. Sinefield is 95% fiction. Good Morning America is total bull shit.

NYC is the epicenter of corruption and poverty. Unless you make six figures and up, you live in the ghetto. Even if you make six figures and up, you may have a nice pimp apartment but your street is still dirty, the air still polluted, and there are homeless in your alley. Blue collar workers are all x-cons or illegal immigrants. Everyone has a hustle. Anything you say can and will be used against you.

The only “happy people” here are the super rich or the tourist. The super uber rich can afford to live in heavily guarded areas or they live north of the city along the coast and drive in and pay 35 – 50 dollars a day to park their cars. Everyone pays 8 dollars just to enter Manhattan and they want to charge another 8 to get to lower Manhattan. My commute cost 8-10 dollars a day depending on which way I go.

Most people in Manhattan have 2-3 roommates or more living in the smallest apartments you can imagine. Studios in the “bad” areas start at 1300, 1BR 1600, 2BR 2000… in the better areas Studios are 2k, 1BR 3k, 2BR 4k and up. My friend lives with 5 guys and they all pay 1k per month plus utilities.

It’s whacked.

But on a positive note, I will survive to fight another day. I got myself into this mess and I will get myself out.

…..and now for a song from Fear that I’ve loved since 1986 and now realize just how true it is.

New York’s alright, New York’s alright
New York’s alright if you like saxophones

New York’s alright if you wanna get pushed in front of the subway
New York’s alright if you like tebirculosis
New York’s alright if you like art and jazz
New York’s alright if you’re a homosexual

New york’s alright, New York’s alright
New York’s alright if you like saxophones

New York’s alright if you like drunks in your doorway
New York’s alright if you wanna freeze to death
New York’s alright if you wanna get mugged or murdered
New York’s alright if you like saxophones

New York’s alright, New York’s alright
New York’s alright if you like saxophones
