Mad Dawg :: Bartram Trail Lady Bears 2010

Bartram Trail Lady Bears 2010 :: Madeleine Roberts, center

I am writing this because my niece Madeleine Roberts is not a self-promoter and I think that Jacksonville, Florida would love to know about a local role model for young female athletes. Madeleine has several articles in the St. Augustine Record about her basketball career but I would like to see a more in depth article that highlights her intelligence, kind spirit and beauty as well as her athletic skills.

When Madeleine was 3 years old, she fought and won a battle with Leukemia at Wolfson’s Childrens Hospital. To look at her now you would never guess that she was very sick in the hospital for three years and still has to go in once a year for a cancer check.

Madeleine is a senior at Bartram Trail High School. She is on the Lady Bears Basketball team and is the high scorer almost every game averaging 25 points per game. Her basketball career accomplishments: Started and lettered all 4 years, over 1,325 points and counting, all county selection – junior year, Jim Clark Classic – Tournament MVP, and Team Captain. Her teammates call her “Mad Dawg”.

On top of being a super athlete, Madeleine is smart with a 4.0 grade average. She is also very beautiful inside and out. She has been on mission trips with her church youth group to Haiti before the earthquake. She has a very kind and cheerful personality. She stands tall with dark brown hair, athletic build, with a very pretty face. She has wonderful self-esteem without being cocky or proud. We can all be proud of this wonderful young woman.

Here are some links to her sports articles, the Lady Bears team website and her Facebook profile.
